"Me Without You" Review

Marina (Friel) is the sassy one while Holly (Williams) is the bookish one, in this coming-of-age tale about best friends living in 70's suburbia. As they grow up, their close bond begins to stifle as they hold differing values but ultimately go after the same man. Experimentation in sex, drugs, fashion - plus gratuitous nudity - all play a part in this nostalgia-filled ride.

Dawson's Creek star Michelle Williams does a great English accent, but viewers must suspend belief as she ages from a shy 14 year old to a married mother. Friel lends the drama grit and emotion as she heads down the same unstable path as her mother (Trudie Styler). Erring on the side of chick-flick but aided by a strong cast and memorable leads, this is a thought-provoking and entertaining trip down memory lane.
